In todays fast paced internet based business, it is crucial that you stay up with latest news, tips and tricks to get and keep your site at the top. The search engine spiders are changing the ways they look at and analize web sites. If you know how the search engine looks at your site, then you can create content that the search engines like. Also known as SEO Project Management.
For instance, you do not want to have a headline of a site that starts out with “Welcome to Smith and Joe’s Shop”. This doesn’t tell the customer anything or to the search engine, what you offer, how you offer it, or why they should buy it. That phrase ony tells your names. Most people don’t want to know your name until they find out if they like you or your product. When they know the true you, then they will know your name.
If you want to sell, and you want to get your page to the top, then you need to use a Customer Catch Phrase, if you don’t know what that is check out this article here. This will let the customer know what you are offering.
This CCP or opening should also be listed in a h1 tag. The search engines are looking for the h1 tag to correlate it with the content of the site. This is a huge key for all headings, use your keywords in your headings. If you have a section that you say contact me, then under it, it doesn’t say anything other then your information, then you can optimize that by saying contact me for real estate information for example. The search engines are looking for relevant and fresh content.
Before you can even begin to optimize a site, you need to do some major research on the keywords you are using, and see what keyword you should be using. Too many times we get stuck focusing on what we offer and not what the customer is looking for. If you sell a instructional video on how to create brochures, you don’t want to use a keyword that is Joe’s brochure. You want to use “How to create a brochure” or “making a brochure”. The longer the keyword phrase the better. The longer the keyword the more buyers you will have come to your site. The shorter the keyword the more browsers you will have and you want buyers not browsers.
A great tool for analizing keywords is WordTracker. You can use different values to assimilate your list of keywords that will work the best for you and not have the most competition. How does that effect you? WordTracker uses what they call a KEI score, or keyword effectiveness score, the higher the KEI the better. If a keyword phrase has a KEY of 10 then that is a great keyword choice if there is a reasonable amount of searches within the 60 days. In a WordTracker search you will have the number of times it was searched, and it will give a lot of other choices to choose from and give you ideas of phrases you haven’t ever thought of that will give you a pin pointed direction for optimization in your titles and articles.

Anyway, for SEO you want to make sure you have your keyword list with you at all times when you are looking at your web site or writing for your web site. This will ensure you grab a keyword when there should be one there. You can take the text you have right now and just modify it by adding the keywords to it, or in place of other words, when you do that, you will have a optimized site. A general rule of thumb is about a 2 to 3% keyword density through out the page. So, if you have 200 words on the page, the keyword phrase needs to be there 4 to 6 times. This will ensure the search engines know the content is relevant to the title and the rest of the site.
The title of the page, not just the heading, is crucial! At the very top of this page you will see the title that says “The Admin Professional: Virtual Assitant”, this is an example of the keyword usage of “Virtual Assitant” I can actually lengthen this out to a couple keyword phrases and it will benefit me, in fact while I am writing this I will do that with you involved. Right now my big push is for SEO Project Management, I want to help people succeed in getting their site up in the rankings and not have to spend thousands of dollars to do it. So I have gone and used my WordTracker and I have found a great keyword with an awesome KEI score, guess what it is? It just so happens that it is SEO Project Management, what a coincidence huh? My first thoughts are:
1. Create some articles on SEO Project Management with those keywords in the article.
2. Create a category in my blog of SEO Project Management.
3. Add the keyword phrase to my site and begin promoting it.
4. Link it back to my specialty, Busines blogs, and Busines Blog Marketing.
And most people would stop there which is a terrific start, but don’t stop there. keep working it and thinking it through. Where can I place a header with that keyword, don’t go overboard, but let the people know you offer it and offer a great deal on it. Here try some of these steps:
5. Add the keywords to the title of the page! That is what I began to think about but almost forgot due to all of the distractions in between.
6. Get your articles out to other blogs, LOTS OF THEM if you can. This will drive traffic to your site.
7. Keep writing articles, not to just raise your traffic but to really help people succeed. If you help someone succeed, there wil be someone that will help you succeed.
8. Begin applying marketing principles for the product. If you truly have a product that solves a problem then guarantee it and sell it, back it, live it, love it.
9. If you don’t have time to write artcles or do any of the administrative duties, then hire a Virtual Administrative Assitant to help you out. It is well worth it. Remember, hiring a Virtual Administrative Assistant can increase the Value of Your Client.
SEO is an on going project that seems to never end. It also seems to be something everyone has to guess as in some areas and I beieve this is why it is an ongoing project. As soon as you figure it out, the search engines change keeping it an ongoing project :).
